THIS IS JUST AN ADDITIONAL CONTENT FOR THE PREVIOUSLY RELEASED METAL GEAR SOLID PORTABLE OPS.
The overall look is okay, but there are a lot of games that look just as good, if not better. As far as control. This game is completely mediocre in literally every way. Sometimes the controls feel good, but most of the time I felt that I couldn't do everything I wanted to, or as quickly as I wanted to.The sound is okay, but I wasn't overly impressed. You may read some reviews on here that give the game 4 or 5 stars, but I'd be willing to bet that those people are die-hard Metal Gear fans who'll eat up anything created by Hideo Kojima (the creator of the Metal Gear series)In case you didn't pick up on it from reading some of the other reviews on here, MPO+ is essentially a multiplayer expansion pack. Not some ugly second rate character. well, they're lame. If you want to play as Snake, you have to beat the game TWICE.
And that's no joke either.I was really excited when I first bought this game. And as you've probably read before, the single player Infinity Missions are. I was thinking fondly of games like the original MGS and it's subsequent sequels on the PS2. And do not expect it to be anything like other MGS games.
I'm gonna cut straight to the chase. Once on Easy, and once on Normal. Let me repeat that: "You have to EARN the priviledge of playing as Snake".I don't about you, but if I pay even just $20 for a Metal Gear game, I want to be able to play as Snake right off the bat. On the design & graphics side, the Infinity Missions features mainly dull and repetitive backgrounds. First of all, you don't even get to play as Snake when you begin the game. If you're thinking about buying this game, just don't expect much. Think Unreal Tournament or Quake 3. Many sounds come across as synthetic and not ttrue to real life.
But you really need to understand that THIS game is NOTHING like that. Instead, you begin the game as some generic soldier from the Metal Gear universe. Combined with the average graphics, and less than average gameplay, this game just feels more like an afterthought than an all new adventure. You've been warned.
This was an awesome gift to my youngest son for Christmas. He can't put it down.
Just now, for instance, I was in the last stage of a mission and wanted to take a break and watch a movie on the PSP. The game had no story at all which was kind of disappointing but not a huge deal. There are only a handful of missions and within each mission are a bunch of stages. If you get tired of playing and you don't want lose everything that you've done up to that point in the mission you have to put the PSP in sleep mode. I'm so annoyed I doubt I'll play this game again any time soon (if ever again). If it wasn't for this, if you could save mid-mission, then I'd give this game 4 stars (5 stars if this game had a story). You can only save (unless I'm missing something here) when you completely finish a mission (some missions have up to 20 stages).
I obviously wouldn't have aborted the mission if I had known this would happen but I was tired of playing the game, you know. The only thing you do is go around and capture enemy soldiers and slowly drag them around with the goal of getting them to join your side. So I pushed start, selected "Return to Briefing" and lost everything (all of the soldiers I had recruited and all of the items I had picked up). The biggest problem I had with the game was that it could take hours to finish a mission and if you want to use the PSP to do something else, like use the internet, watch a movie, etc. or if you want to take a break and do something else with your day you're out of luck. Well, there went hours of progress.
It's a pretty fun game other than this.
Oh man I love this game, I play it all night long working 11-7. I found two soldiers that are 400 life & 800 stamina. they are Tengu soldiers. Yea.
